I am an artist based in Cape Town at the moment however born in KZN In a small town called Dundee. I took interest in music in my early high school years with two of my school peers whom one of them is my long time collaborator and he goes by the name "Keozei". We started a Rap group back in 2010 which gave birth to Kid Gap the Artist. With Talent shows at school we never won any of the shows however we were always a crowed favorite which kept me inspired to seek more out of music. I finished high school with the same mindset of wanting to pursue music further so i studied at Cape Audio College and completed my course in 2018 as a qualified sound Engineer. My focus was always to be an artist so as soon as i graduated from college, I've been putting more focus on my music from an artist and songwriters perspective.

Who or what got you into Hip hop?
I remember the first Hip Hop song that grabbed my attention was "T.I's - Big things poppin" song back in the early 2000s. I was on holiday with pops at the time i had seen the video on MTV and i have not looked back since. My older twin brothers took an interest in music as well when i was in primary school and would allow me to watch them record whenever i was around. That was fascinating to me as i got to see the process of making a song from scratch, so that defs amplified my passion for music.
 
If you were not into Hip hop,  what would you do?
That is a question that has never found a place in my thoughts since this is all i see myself doing, however if we are really to think about it.... i think i would be a voice over artist or a tv presenter. I have never seen myself to be the office type of person so my goals were always in the media industry.
 
What is the Best and the Worst thing abut hip hop according to your Experiences? 
Well as an up and coming artist i think the worst thing for me is that there is way to many people trying to be rappers ouchea that its hard for people to actually acknowledge that you might just be the next big thing and not another so called "Rapper".
The best thing about hip hop for me is that as much as it's something that started in 1970s it has found a way to remain relevant through out the years and the youth keep on expanding the culture and pushing it forward. Hip Hop is Timeless.
 
What is the Story behind your Project "Gemini Split"?
"Gemini Split" takes from the concept of the Gemini star sign which is basically twins stuck in one body. Its a 9 track project that has relationship songs that basically give you insight on relationship experiences that i have gone through whether good or bad.
 
Kid Gap... What is the story behind this Stage name? 
Growing up I was into athletics in primary school and I pretty much use to win most if not all my 100 meter races and i use to win with a good gap between myself and other kids in my division. My cousin just started calling Gap at some point and i stuck with it and apply the same focus into my music and that is to out shine and leave a gap between myself and competition.
 
How is the Response from Family and Friends towards Your Music Journey? 
Its been a long journey and not a easy one at times, especially having to convince my parents that this is not just a hobby but something I want to turn into an actual career. Over the years the folks have come around. I think i can honestly say my growth as an artist is due to my friends, i could never give enough credit to the gang.

What keeps you going as a Rapper? 
Challenging myself as an artist overall is what keeps me going i try and not only focus on rap. I try to make myself as versatile as i can be, the "Gemini split" project is a good example of me trying to branch out into something more than a rapper however you should still be able to hear i write from a rapper's pen which is the root to my music.
 
Do you think Mzansi Hip hop is on point or it needs to be polished?
Personally I think we are doing the best that we can at the moment and we haven't reached our limit yet as the industry is still growing. There is more supporting brands and businesses to the culture in SA now than ever before and i think its crucial to acknowledge the growth considering how far we've come in the last 5 years alone.

What Makes Malcolm.E different from other Rappers?
I would say what makes me different from other rappers is my sound and what I rap about. Being highly influenced by both Boom bap and Trap, I have learned to combine catchy melodies and hooks with conscious raps.
Few years from now, where will Malcolm.E be?
I see myself being a successful independent international artist. My plan in the next couple of years is to start my own recording studio and record label. There are a lot of talented artists just like me, I am lucky to have some of them as my friends. My goal in music is to tell my story but also make sure that people get to hear other stories that need to be heard and there are a lot of artists out here who are talking.

What is the Motive behind your writings?
The motive behind my writing is to be real as I can be on what I speak about. With Things Change EP I was going through a lot of change as a person and as an artist. Previously my artist name was Joedasky but I felt that name didn't represent me well, then I came up with Malcolm.E.
Having a hard time trying to find my sound it also put a lot of doubt in my dreams to be an artist. In life and in music I learned that there will be a lot of trials and errors but if you apply a million solutions to a problem you are eventually going to come up with the right solutions and that's what I applied to my craft. Countless hours in the studio pushing myself represents me and who I am. I wanted my stage name to be meaningful. Not only to me but my fans.
Malcolm.E, what is the story behind this stage name?
I wanted my stage name to be authentic so this is actually my real first name and the first letter of my surname. I just added the dot in between for my stage name. My full name is Malcolm-Jemal Endris.
5. Lil Wayne, J.Cole and 2Pac... What makes them your major inspirations?
Lil Wayne is where everything started for me. I was just a kid who loved House Music but when I heard a track from one of my classmates back in primary school, I was so intrigued about how Lil Wayne sounded on the song and just the way he flowed. His voice was unique, his style of rapping was unique. I had heard rap songs before that moment but that made me say "I want to be like this guy". I studied his music, downloaded all his mixtapes and albums and I just became a huge fan of him. He just inspired me to start writing, so I would definitely say Lil Wayne is the reason I started rapping. 2 Pac I listened to during my high school years and that just opened my mind on how powerful rap music really is. What he spoke about was so real and that is why people still talk about and praise him to this day. His Music is timeless and it just inspired me to make more music that people can relate to and music that can help them get through tough times like 2 Pac did For Me. J. Cole on the other hand inspired me to be myself and believe in my own message.
What makes a good Rapper according to your opinion?
For me what makes a good rapper is the passion he or she shows for the rap culture and the influence he or she makes on the rap culture. If you look at all the rappers that are considered the greatest of all time in the rap game, they have all individually influenced the culture whether it is by the way people who love hip hop dress and most importantly how he or she changes or brings a new hip hop sound to the rap game. A great example I can give is Lil Wayne, if you look at a lot of artist now they all look like him, have tattoos like him and try to sound like him.
What are the three best highlights from your Music Journey?
Reaching the TOP 10 in the MTN Bushfire Pulse Firefly competition in Swaziland earlier this year which had over 600 artists competing. It was a great learning experience for me.
• Getting my qualification as a Sound Engineer from Cape Audio College in December last year.
• Completing my first music project, Things Change EP, which is also now out on all major commercial digital music platforms.

Basically the song "Money" by Mac Loud is another one of his releases where he's not featuring anyone,
The message of the track corresponds with the type of a beat he used.
It is a hype type of beat... "I wanted to try something that has a bit of trap flow, something different from what I usually do, but at the same time I wanted to rap on a trap flow and say something meaningful.
And for me what resonated when I came up with the hook, I just wanted to get money because that's what basically what it is...
The main reason why we do what we do is because we want to get the money.
We don't sleep, we push work 24/7, we try new things, we trina get new deals, trying to progress and trying to level up everything because we want to get the Money right?
So for me it just make sense for the hook to be that way... and I mean you know man,  it's a rapper's dream... when get that money to spend it in a certain way, so hence with the bridge I'm like "I want the lavish life, When I get money, I spend it, fuck twice on the average night...

You know that's a super star's life that we all want to achieve and we all want to reach one day, where by you don't worry about a single thing because you can afford to do whatever you want to do
Ummm... so I mean it's an aspiration kind of song, it talks about the everyday goal that I have and that most people have which is a common goal to get money and be successful.
But at the same time, with the verses, I wanted to make sure that I personalise them so that people can know who I am as Mac Loud...
I think this is me finally putting a stamp on the name Mac Loud and say;  I'm here to stay, whether you people like it or not, this is me,  this is who I am and this is what I do.
Like I said on the other interview that we had about "Still Shining"... Mac Loud is the other version of me who doesn't take no "Sh**" and doesn't take nonsense... he claims and takes whatever he wants whenever he wants it... you know, he goes for whatever he wants... no limits, nothing .
And for me in the verses  (especially the first one), I'm talking about the industry and all the fake bullsh*** that we go through, the ups and downs in the game... people always trying to be your fake friends because they want to make ends through you...
I talk about all the ups and downs of personal relationships and the fact that no matter what, I'll keep going forward,  we are tired of all the fakeness, we just trying to chase the greatness.
And on the second verse I'm basically talking about myself as a future businessman... my brand new tribe which I want to grow in not only a clothing brand but into a production company as well, you know... a whole movement which is New tribe, you know... so I'm talking about the exclusivity... the people who I hang around with... I no longer hang out with just anyone,  I choose my circle wisely.
The mission statement again, I talked about it there is that, we just about getting to a show,  killing it, move in and get in the bag... you know,  we don't want fake things, we don't want nonsense... and people have their own opinions about it but at the end of the day we don't care, we just want to get what we want and move on, not everyone has to like us, not everyone has to be on our side... but just as long as they know why we are here and what we came to do. ..
That's what "Money" is all about... we just want to get the Money Fam"
