COLANI "SooPurB" Nkosi is a siSwati rapper born and raised in one of Mpumalanga's townships, Nhlazasthe. The 25 year old youngster fell in love with music at a young age. He grew looking to SA's legendary stars such as Zola, Mandoza, Brenda among others. He developed his love for Hip Hop when vernacular rap pioneers like Teargas, Skwata Kamp, the late Pro and HHP injected the genre into the SA music industry.
SooPurB began to write his own rhymes in primary school and learnt more about the craft from friends in high school. He began to test the mic with friends and never looked back. When friends gave up, he persisted as a solo artist until today.
2017 saw SooPurB propelling in the music business. He managed to get his first official single "Nkebelele" played on radio stations including SABC's Ligwalagwala FM. His follow up single "Skelem" is also loved by many as well. He then earned recognition from different corners of Mzansi and mostly in his province, Mpumalanga. He also contested on 5FM's Rap Factor Battle and reigned supreme for 5 consecutive weeks.
In 2018, SooPurB pushed a little harder to expose his talent via social media and got recognized on Twitter by eTV's Shiz Live producer who invited him to the show and he made his first ever TV appearance. As he continued to hustle for more recognition, SooPurB scored himself another TV feature on SABC 1's biggest youth show, YoTV Live on the 18th of February 2019. What Motivated you to move to Hard-core Hip Hop since you were first exposed to Kwaito related type of Music Genre?
Well, I grew up listening to radio in the early 2000s and kwaito was the biggest music genre in the country, it was music for iKasi by kasi artists. Then SA rappers such as Pro, HHP, Teargas, F-Eazy and others started to inject hip hop into the industry and I fell in love with it the same way fell in love with kwaito. Kwaito was mostly music for the dance floor and hip hop is more about storytelling so I decided to try it out and as it evolves on a daily, I am still here trying to adapt and grow at the same time.
What is the Theme behind Most of your Writings?
I write mostly about my life experiences and of those around me. As much as I do music for myself, I do it for the people. Through my music, I tell kasi stories, I address kasi issues that affect kasi people and I try to use my mother tongue, siSwati, as much as possible.
Would you describe yourself as King of SiSwati Rap or You are in the process building the blocks?
? [laughs] Most of the time, rappers like to give themselves titles; which is not a bad thing, I believe it's how they feel and it boosts their confidence in a way. But I simply refer to myself as a "King" because of my family name "Nkosi" which means king. I then decided to add it on my social media username / handle on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram it's @SooPurBtheking. The people will crown me once they deem me fit for the title, for now I am building the blocks.
How is the response from Family and Friends towards your Music?
To be honest with you, my mom didn't buy it when I started and I couldn't blame her because where we come from nobody ever made a living out of music and we reside far away from people who did it and appear on TV, papers and other big platforms so it kinda seemed almost impossible. But now that I began to appear on big TV shows and newspapers, my mom is proud and very supportive. She even borrows money to pay for my trips to Jozi now. Well, friends have been liking music even when it was still immature so they've always been there since day one.
What Changes is SooPurB bringing to the Hip Hop Game?
First and foremost, I aim to inject siSwati into the mainstream and take it to the world. SiSwati is one of the few official languages in the country that are not prevalent in the entertainment industry, not only in music even in acting and other fields. I wanna change that. Secondly I wanna change the content. Hip Hop music is known to be about girls, drugs, cars and the fast life. I wanna bring content that's about ordinary SA people's everyday lives.
Few years from now, Where will SooPurB be?
In few years from now, I visualise SooPurB swimming with the sharks. I see myself doing big, doing sold out shows, breaking records with sales, touring around Africa and the world and most importantly, INSPIRING kids with my life story. I come from zero and I wanna change that, not only for me and my family but to encourage and bring hope to other kids who are as less privileged as me.
What is the Story behind your Stage Name SooPurB?
The name "SooPurB" is a stylish twist of the English word "Superb" which synonymously means excellent. It is a benchmark I use to grade my art and everything I do along this music journey. I strive to keep up with the meaning of the word, whatever move I make must be superb "SooPurB." ?
If you were not into Hip hop, What would you do?
Well, I am in possession of a Bachelor's degree in communication. Media and Communication are my playgrounds. I have experience in Radio Content Production and social media management, which I gained as an intern producer as SABC's Ligwalagwala FM in 2017. I love working with or in the media. I can enjoy doing anything within the media profession, be it print, TV or radio.
What are the Few tips of becoming The Best Freestyler?
Take rap as a fun game, don't think too much and just play with the words popping up your head. ?
What Wise Words can You share to those who look up to you and All upcoming rappers?
Dear up coming rappers, invest in your craft and start to learn about the business side of music. The industry is not about making good music and blowing up after. There are processes involved and if you lack knowledge about them, you'll hardly ever make it. Learn about marketing / promotion and PR (public relations) skills and tactics. Learn what's needed when you send your music to radio and TV stations. Learn how to communicate properly with media people.

My name is Qondja Elias Salatiel, a 25 years old self-taught artist specialised in realistic pencil drawing. I hold a Bachelor of Criminal justice from Namibia University of Science and Technology (2016-2018). I started to draw at the age of 9, sketching comics of Shake Shikongo and soccer player sketches. I started to draw real people in 2013 and it was not easy as my drawing skills were not perfect. In 2015 I perfected my art and I started to draw Namibian celebrities like Gazza, King Tee Dee, Mathew Dillish, Maria Nepembe, Luis Munana and others. I got a name in art industry and a lot of people know me. I also promote local rappers through my artworks. Artists such as Jyz Yorke and others.
Who made you realize that you have a calling for Drawing?
I was inspired by this American girl called Heather Rooney, by the time I was still amateur, I used to watch her drawing videos on YouTube. Her videos opened my mind that I can also do it if I get serious.
What inspires you when you draw a Celebrity / Artist?
It's quite good to draw a famous person, more especially the artists, once I uploaded a portrait of a certain celeb, it drives a lot of traffic into my account and it also allows me to interact with the fans of these celebs. So, this inspires me that I can do more and have a name in the industry as many people get to know me.
You Draw such amazing realistic sketches… Do any of these artists get blown away when they see these Drawings?
Yes... most artists never believe that I drew their portraits with my hand because their pictures are too realistic, they thought maybe I do digital drawing or I used an app to sketch, they only believe when they saw their portrait live, especially Gazza and Jyz Yorke.
What are Your Future plans with Drawing?
I want to be one of the greatest visual artists ever in the country, I want to have a studio where I can sell my artworks and teach upcoming artists.
What is the good and the worst thing about Drawing according to your experiences?
The good thing about drawing is that you don't really need capital to start drawing or became an artist, you make quick money and u spend less in materials so there is money in art. The worst thing about drawing is that sometime people may force you to draw pictures of them that are not clear for you as an artist, so when you sketch that picture it will not come out good and the client will be reluctant to pay. When it comes to payments, customers sometimes give excuses and avoid paying whether you drew their pictures perfectly, some of them say "This picture doesn't look like me" but they insist to take pictures with them at lower price, that's how we are betrayed by clients and make loss.
Besides Drawing, what else can Qondja Do?
I don’t only specialise in pencil drawing, I can do painting (especially landscape) in big sizes, I can also draw tattoos and I'm currently learning Corel drawing on my own.
How is the response from family and friends towards your drawings?
My family always got my back, helping me where they can and encouraging me to continue, my drawings no-longer surprise them anymore because they know that I’m capable of doing anything crazy in art. Some of my friends don't believe if a human being perfects his art to that extend, some say I'm better than a camera, some assumed and concluded that maybe I have joined a secret society which helps me spiritually to do all that magic in art, so people have different reactions to my arts.
Which One Drawing would You say it is Your Best and Why?
The portrait of Gazza is the best ever I believe, because it went viral on media and got up to more than 200 shares.

T-Girl Madrops Seems to be forging ahead with her music career without being signed by any record company and is 100% supported by a huge number of fans that she has, mostly the outsiders.
“I’ve been approached by few recording companies however, I understand the advantages and disadvantages of concluding a contract with a record label and for now I decide not to be signed.” Said T-Girl when interviewed by Sboh The Bonesh on Radio DUT in November 2018.
Her songs are encoded for Movies utility and are on Callertunes with Vodacom and MTN. She is a holder of Eyethu Talent Award as a Best Rapper in 2015. The Queen of the rain works as an attorney for one of the biggest law firms in Durban. when she was asked how she does it as her career job seems to keep her busy and needs a lot of Focus; her response was “it is not easy but where there is a will, there is a way” she further commented that, she spend a lot of time into her legal career as an attorney as he needs to be updated at all times so she applies all she has on it whereas in music she only needs to make time and apply love which is not really that much challenging.

Who or what is Your Main Influence in The Rap/ Hip hop industry?
Keri Hilson has been a source of influence and inspiration to my music career, her charisma, philanthropic nature and drive for good music has been of a great deal to me but then she does Pop and rnb while I do Pop and Rap music, so the rest of my style comes from within, which makes me being unique amongst all.
What differences do you spot or discover when collaborating with artists from different countries?
The differences will always be there as these artists bring something new to the table; different styles from what I always hear from my country. But what I've been Noticing since is the 'Respect' towards each other and respect for music! Respect is always there, there has never been underestimations or competition, and that's obviously because there is no conflict of interest. It is more like "Your gain is my gain". Other than that, music is music anywhere you go.
How is the response from Family and Friends that you are in this Music Industry while you are a qualified Lawyer?
I could not have asked for better Families and friends, they have been of immense strength and encouragement to me knowing that I have a strong passion for music and they are also being supportive on my progression as a qualified Lawyer... I really appreciate them.
Some of the mistakes upcoming artists do are:
• Lack of strategy - I don't understand the point of releasing 5 tracks a month, knowing well that the last 5 tracks you released last month did not go anywhere! There is saying I came up with to guide myself and my team saying "PUSH UNTIL IT'S GONE". Whenever I release a single, I push it until it reaches certain target like my latest track "Follow up", my manager instructed me not to release anything until we have 50 000 downloads. Now we aim more than that. I think they need to also adopt something like that.
. Lack of knowledge in respect of the procedure- They lack knowledge as to what really needs to be done when the song/track is complete I think they need to become a fan of internet because a proper research would guide them in this. Know your music and deliver it to proper audience/fans, not to your friends! Market it & distribute it accordingly.
Further, they need to be kind to themselves and invest money for their music
I won't explain this.
• Wrong collaboration-
You don't just Collaborate with someone merely because s/he is also an artist! There's a lot to be taken into consideration including the impact a collab will have and whether it will mutually benefit sides. So, I would advise upcoming artists to create a niche for themselves before jumping into collaborate with someone who will overshadow you or someone useless on the track (laughs). It has to balance.
If there could be one big artist you would like to work with; who would it be and why?
I would love to work with Keri Hilson because we share same ideology and taste of music. It would be great working with her... always dreamt of it.

T-Girl Madrops is simply derived from my birth name Thandeka Mathonsi. I Know what T-Girl means in other countries, my fans from America have been asking me about that, well I’m not "that"! T-Girl is from Thandeka, and bcause of my legal career, I know it is wise to separate the singer/rapper from the lawyer.
So my fans know me as T-Girl Madrops, the queen of the rain. They say I drop hits like Raindrops. This up-coming, extraordinary artist whose music is able to change the atmosphere of any setting, was born and bred at the dusty streets of Magona Village, Malamulele in Limpopo, His real name is Lefty Vutomi Baloyi but well known by his stage name UglyRaps. He comes from humble beginnings that allowed him to dream and afforded him a chance to picture himself as anyone or anything possible on earth, but surprisingly, he chose music which couldn’t have been in the menu because of his geographical positioning. He proclaims to have fallen so hard for music in his junior primary days but the love surpassed his teenage days and assured him to only focus on music, thus making it his daily job.
UglyRaps is a full-time musician who is currently based in Johannesburg, South Africa. His music is comprised of different sounds and contents, one can categorizes it as rap, hip hop or trap but in actual facts, it represents life. Ha-ha rap star huh? Now that they see the progress, they are coming to the party. When I started, they thought I was just trying to get girls and flex, they emphasized that I shouldn’t stop looking for a job. But I haven’t heard any word bout that from them in like 13 months, my mom has become my biggest fan and funny thing is that she knows nothing about hip-hop, but she is down with me.

Ha-ha look at me, take a good look at me bro. If you look like me where I come from, you are ugly. Loko nahari tsanana ani chava ngo ku smile mahlweni ka ticheri because I was made to believe that I am ugly. So now that I rap, it is Ugly with the raps…UglyRaps, just embracing who I am.

Hope bro, hope. My music and writing give people hope. I come from nothing, I am a village baby from the dirty streets. For me to make it and be who I aspire to be, that will speak hope to someone’s life. We make who we are, and the people keep us going.

ANDRO̲ID 18. (stylized ANDRD18.) is the pseudonym of Simone Tilly - a Johannesburg based DJ, curator and graduate Town and Regional Planner that plays a spectrum of eclectic music genres from alternative – electronic, future bass to rnb – trap music.
Her sonic journey began unexpectedly, in late 2016 as she tapped into her inner creativity and saw music as a medium of choice for self-expression. Through Pussy Party which exists to create a regular platform for femme DJs and artists to practice, incubate, exchange, and expose. She mostly plays within the underground music scene in Johannesburg. Having conquered a milestone in August 2018 as an addition to the Oppikoppi Festival line up playing at the Red Bull Music stage makes her a rising force to be reckoned with.
She describes music as a sort of creative energy that connects people of all culture. To her, emotive musical selections are personal and somewhat therapeutic. She draws inspiration from nature and the likes of Hannah Faith, ANG, Just Themba and Soulection.
What inspired you to do “Eclectic Transpersonal Music”?
I love being a genre-bending artist, it just creates that narrative of blending different feels and frequencies together to create a sonic odyssey - being transpersonal in a sense that it can elevate and evoke your mood beyond the physical, and we get to exchange energy on the dancefloor.
What is your say about Ladies being Classified as "Female DJs" while guys are just DJs?
Honestly, it’s really biased. I don’t even think it is something that should still be debated in 2019. Sometimes male DJs / promoters feel quite intimidated by us “female DJs”, so they’ll rather redirect it to gender than actually just admitting or complimenting the fact that you are a great DJ despite being “female’’.
What is the Good and The Worst thing about a Club DJ?
Ha-ha, the good thing is that you give people what they want to hear - on the other side, it limits you sometimes as people in the club are not as open to experiencing new / alternative sounds.
ANDRD 18. ... What is the story behind this stage name?
*chuckles* I actually really struggled coming up with a stage name, then one day I just had a random moment, apart from the fact that I am HUGE Dragon ball Z fan, I wanted something really unique and not the cliché “DJ’’ stage name.
(fun fact: when you plug an aux cable into an ‘Android’ phone, it basically plays all types of music 😉
What are your future plans towards the DJing journey and meeting new people?
Well, at the moment I’m just trying to align and channel my creative energy into mastering and perfecting my craft - Music is interrelated to space, so I would love to use this as a medium to travel the world, share Mzansi’s flavour, explore new cultures and different scenes. The future is unknown but I am looking forward to soaking myself into all elements of DJing and the art of music production.
What single night out has been the most memorable for you? As a DJ? As an attendee?
I made a debut at the Oppikoppi Festival last year, it was such a jol and a breath-taking experience both as a DJ and attendee, the crowd, the vibe and atmosphere were so fulfilling, definitely worth all the dust!!
What is one mistake you see a lot of up and coming DJs making? / What advice would you give to aspiring DJs?
For me, personally I think we tend to want to gain a lot of recognition as up and coming DJ, forgetting the importance of prioritizing yourself as a brand and to master the art of your craft fully - Being patient and giving yourself time is a key, all in all its always a creative learning process, the more you practice the better quality your DJ sets become.
What are your wise words for Girl Power Motivation?
Trust yourself and the process. Liberate all the feminine energy within you baby girl, cause you magnify the Universe!!! x.
How is the response from family and friends that you are a DJ?
It’s been amazing actually, although they never expected it, they truly do support my passion and I am forever grateful for that.
What is the motive behind most of your mixes?
It’s been a while since I’ve actually curated and recorded a mix, I am looking forward to recording one soon though.
We are constantly in the process of change as we are constantly growing and evolving through life, trying to become the best version of ourselves. The mixes I curate mostly derives from a contemporary feeling or sonic mood that I want to creatively express hoping others can relate, connect and just wave to it.

I have been a music fan since the early years of my life. I started getting exposed to Hip Hop in the 6th grade back in 2008. My favourite artists were Eminem, 50 cent, Lil Wayne and more.

Hip Hop is a culture, hip hop is a movement... it is not only just the music side but the culture and self-expression
What do you think of South African Hip hop? Is it on point or it needs a bit of polishing?
I think South African hip hop is growing massively and it needs a lot of attention. We as upcoming artists also need to give the game something it has never seen or experienced before, something fresh and very creative...The game needs more versatile and unique artists who can really think out the box.
What changes are you bringing to the hip hop industry?
With my craft I am looking to inspire, touch and influence a lot of artists... I’m bringing 100% independence in the game... as you know a lot of upcoming artists rely on label deals but as for me, I prefer working with a team that produces different skills and mindsets that will expose us and make us gain profits for our music... in short, I’m promoting 100% independence.
What is the Best and Worst thing about Hip hop according to Your Experiences?
The best thing about hip hop is that it brings creatives together so that they can team up and create magic. The worst thing is that we artists don’t get enough support from radio stations, music channels and big magazines...that is why we need platforms like Rap type Mag
How is the hip hop standard in Alexandra? Is it Excellent or it lacks a bit somewhere?
The hip hop in Alexandra is lacking, we have so many talented rap artists but we only get to see the same faces in events and big platforms... We need more hip-hop events because mostly we have more House Music events than hip hop.
Who is your intimidation when it comes to rapping around Alex?
I feel like am gifted in my own way(s), so I run my own race...competition is there but I am more focused on the business side which is lacking in the hood...Artists are more reliable on labels, radio stations and other platforms for exposure.
How is the response from Family and Friends since you are in this Hip-hop industry?
To be honest I am not supported mostly on the family side but I have friends (homies) supporting me, downloading and listening to my music.
What is the Motive behind your writings?
The motive behind my lyrics is basically the struggles, hardships, and the challenges I face on a daily basis...My lyrics are relating to $miley as an artist trying to establish himself in the rap game.
$miley... What is the story behind your stage name?
I got the name $miley in the sixth grade...it is not a name I got in the rap game but a lot of people call me by my nickname more than my real name, so basically, I am used to it because the name is unique in the rap game.
Surely there's someone out there who wishes to be like $miley, what wise words can you invest in them?
To someone who wants to be in my space, I would like to say be real to yourself, work hard and never give up!!!

Forgie Fox is a 16 year old rapper from Venda who moved to Polokwane to get his hustle together. He started music as a songwriter in 2014 and released his first song "Before" in 2017 which was playlisted at Munghana Lonene FM, UCT Fm and reached to Nigeria. He later on got nominated twice at BA Awards18 while he was working on a single with sensational singer "Jhamore " from Nigeria entitled She Loves Me. He is willing to work his way up to success and leaving no stone unturned. He travels around the world building relationships with different artists from various places. #SheLovesMe has trended on social media with more than 1000 downloads.

I was inspired by Mizo Phyll and my best friend who gave me stage name.
Who are the Artists do you wish to work with in the near future?
Kwesta and Cassper Nyovest are one of the legends I wanna work with, they sound unique and respect music culture, for that I believe in them. I was inspired a lot when I got nominated twice at BA Awards, although I couldn't win but it shows that my work is finally getting recognized and I hope to get nominated at other bigger Awards shows too.

I write about things that happen in my life, some reflect my background and some are things I wanna achieve.

I wanna thank my Manager Lesibe Ramalatsoa who keeps motivating me and showing me right path.
The song “She Loves Me” was inspired by Jhamore's fiance and my girlfriend when we were talking and realizing how much they loved us. We finally listened to a beat and thought why not dedicate it to them and show appreciation.
My EP was inspired by what my mom who taught me how to pray and always put God before everything, hence it's "PrayForMe" and it will only show how far I can go with features as I will be working with surprising artist from USA and Jhamore so my fans shouldn't expect any South African artist on my EP which will be released on 21st March 2020 on iTunes and Google Play Store. The song "She Loves Me" is also in the 6 tracks EP and it will be my first best work I've ever done. I ask my fans to Pray for me that my EP does well and get recognized all over the world. The project is kwaito and hip Hop one which will show that kwaito is still here and can be mix with hip Hop.

Ngwato Mamiane is a multi-talented artist, famously known as Nyiko Masilo on the popularly watched telenovela, Scandal dropped his EP entitled Spencer on the 30th of September 2018. Spencer is a conceptual project which was released with a comic and birthed from raising above personal tribulations.
Ngwato has mastered the art of live performance and continues to bring his very best in the entertainment industry.
His schooling career started at Lumukisa in Acornhoek, matriculated at Penryn College in Nelspruit. The passion for performance was recognised in high school where he performed at multiple talent shows.
With education being dear to his mother’s heart, in 2012 Ngwato enrolled at The University of Johannesburg to study BCOM in Finance, he dropped out as he knew that finance wasn’t part of his purpose. Ngwato decided to follow his dream and registered at AFDA where he later graduated with a BA in Live Performance.
His tenacity, commitment and drive to succeed earned him his first gig last year November on Scandal.

Who or what got you into Hip hop?
My cousin introduced me to hip hop when I was young and I took an instant liking to it; one day I discovered a 2pac instrumental on one of the mp3 disks he had burned for me, the rest is beautiful history.
Who are the Artists that you've worked with in some of your projects?
I am yet to work with any legends but all the artists featured on my EP are artists that I admire a lot.
Who are the Artists that you wish to work with in the near future?
A very tricky question; as for now I’m mostly excited about the possibilities of working with young talent. I’m hoping to wrap up collaborations with “Love, Sechaba” and LEO.
What's the Motive behind your Writings?
At the moment my writings are rooted in Hope.
Spencer is a 7 track EP. The concept came about when I realized just how much my nephew looks up to, I feel like a superhero - so I created one; the EP is accompanied by a comic (coming in February) written by myself and illustrated by Yolisa Mbeka.
