Infadizle, real name Sechaba Kgalala was born and raised in the East Rand, Katlehong. He was introduced to Rap music at the age of 11 by a neighbour and friend, Tshepo. Later on as a teenager co-found a Hip Hop group Skwatta Kamp. The group became the first independent Hip Hop group to win a SAMA in 2003 for Khut ‘n Joyn.
In 2003 Sechaba graduated from UJ (formerly TWR) to become a Graphic Designer and joined the South African advertising industry, the same year Skwatta Kamp got signed to Gallo Records which led to him leaving his job to tour with the group.
The passion for graphics was still there, so he’d freelance at advertising agencies when the group was not busy. Because of his evolving nature as a creative, advertising got monotonous so he started his own creative agency which now produces a fashion brand called Black Power.
Who or what got you into Fashion?
I believe the transition into fashion is a natural one. Being a hip hop artist as well as a graphic artist easily influenced me into becoming a now intermediate ‘fashion’ designer. I’m still learning the craft. I never want to be boxed into a career, or me creativity shapes who I become next.
What is the Best and worst thing about Fashion industry according to your experience?
Fashion is a challenge for me which makes it exciting. As a country, we come from a dark place which makes our situation as black people a bit of a challenge to overcome difficulties one might experience as a fashion designer. Consumers already identify themselves with European brands so to convince them to buy South African products at the same price they would prefer buying European brands, so it is a challenge, a challenge we will overcome. The best experience about the fashion industry is that it constantly evolves. It might refer to history at times but it consistently moves forward. There are always opportunities to grow business and diversify within the industry unless people go naked.
You have one of the amazing clothing line, Black Power, please take us to it, what is the motive behind the brand and who or what it’s market target?
Black Power, the fashion brand as a concept is based on our past struggle as Africans all over the world. We are still fighting for our power, power to realise our own destiny without European control. Reading about Hueys and Kwames of the Black Panther movement, I learnt how the movement was about positivity, building our communities and not the idea of war as many people think Black Power is. Black people just want their piece of the pie to have opportunities to be great. Black Power, the brand is exactly that, a brand that seeks to be great in the fashion industry to compete globally. So we focus on craft and quality, we are constantly improving our products. Our target market is people who are open-minded. This is a brand for everyone who loves fashion. Everyone who loves craft, art, culture, music and mostly, the colour BLACK!

What changes will Black Power bring to the Fashion industry in the near future?
Our goal is to become more than a successful clothing brand but to change the perception of ourselves as Africans. Creating what we were taught is impossible. Remembering how great we are as a people, so as far as fashion goes, I say we will be as big as the Nikes, Guccis, Diors and Pradas of this world. In fact we are already that great, people just don’t know it yet!

I’ve worked with Jovislash a number of times before. I was introduced to him by my late friend, Nkuli Flabba Habedi. Working with Jovi is like working with a brother so it’s always fun in studio. It’s easy to work cos the energy is good.

I tell people to be fearless. Do what you are passionate about and know yourself first. Do not do things because they are popular or because you think you’ll make money. Do what you do because you are great at it and it gives you life. Do everything you do with love. Do not be afraid to be different. You know who you really are. For example, it’s okay to be a car mechanic, be great at it, no one can be you like you. We don’t all have to be rappers, TV presenters, dancers, famous-for-nothings.

The limelight has never been something that Refuwe “Rey” Letsooa has shied away from; in fact the limelight follows her shadow around.
Born and bred in the Free State, this blooming rose has been nurtured by parents who were both performers and singers.
From a tender age she would often be the lead role in school plays, and would be asked to be the one to do the ice breaker at school functions. All this came very naturally to her. Alongside drama she was also the captain of her High School debating team.
Even throughout her university years she would write, direct and star in plays that would be performed to the disadvantaged as part of her social contribution. She is also a poet that hopes that through her work her audience will be inspired and change their minds about social issues. She believes that she has been called to be the voice to the voiceless and give courage to those who have lost it.
Her infectious smile and personality has enabled her to relate to an array of people from different creeds and background, people being aware of this very quality Rey is often asked to be the Master of ceremonies at her friend’s functions.
Although she appears to have everything in order, it was not always the case as her journey has not been easy but it has been one full of pain, sadness but eventual breakthroughs.
It was this journey that taught her about self-acceptance and constantly fighting for her life in this world. She believed that the lessons she has learnt are gifts that she is now able to advise and help those that are currently going through the same issue.
She was recently (11 March 2018) the bachelorette on Mzansi Magic “Date my family”, her show trended for three days and viewers were even bold enough to say that it the best that the show has ever produced.
She had made history when the toughest of critics black twitter felt completely in love with her. Many women and men were able to resonate with this gem because they felt that she was confidently and authentically herself.
Till this day her inboxes are flooded with messages from the public thanking her for giving them courage to be themselves again.
Some stop her in the streets to ask her advice on how to reach self-actualization, even celebrities such as Boity Thulo and Anele Mdoda have started following on social media and calling her a woman of substance.
She is definitely a woman on the rise.
How I'd motivate someone else; It is important to be authentic to yourself.
As cliche as it might sound there's only one you and you only have one life to live, make it count. Comparison is and always be the greatest thief of joy. Live your life fearlessly. Stop apologizing for dreaming big and going after your dreams.

As young people, we struggle finding ourselves because we are afraid to spend time by ourselves away from the crowd.

Who or what got you into Photography?
Growing up I had an eye for Art and Business, I started very small back in 2015 using my “Sony Cyber-shot” digital camera and people never took me serious, then I moved to “Kodak Coolpix” which I was borrowed by my aunt Linda. As time went by in the early 2016 I had saved some few hundreds and my mother saw that I really love Photography then she bought me the Nikon DSLR which was more advanced via settings and picture control.
If you weren’t in Photography, what would you do?
If I wasn’t a photographer I’ll most definitely be a fashion designer, model or soccer player even though I considered being a deejay at times.
What is the Best and worst thing about Photography according to your experience?
The best thing is having being booked every weekend because that means more money and having your clients being satisfied, because it simply means that they’ll call again or refer their family and friends to you if they need photography services.
The worst thing according to my experience I’d say is forgetting to charge your camera, forgetting your memory cards or “Having 2 people of different skin tone in one picture” LOL.
What achievements do you have through Photography?
Having to extend my Camera with accessories and getting wedding bookings.
What are the amazing places have you travelled that made you fall more in love with Photography?
Well I went to Zeerust in North West for a wedding in 2016 and last year Bafana Stemela and I went to Sun City with Given’s Tours from Pretoria and it was an amazing experience.

It has to be Sweden "Stockholm"; I was there for work with my previous employer in 2012. People over there take music events seriously and don't mind to spend on a show. Then I realized so many advantages than disadvantages in this industry. From there I then decided to go full time in entertainment 2014.

Jyz Yorke is a passionate artist who grew up in a Lil town called Omaruru. He does Hip hop / Rap music with reference to the bible as he grew up in church and has a personal faith in God.
Who or what got you into hip hop music?
Initially it was the missing father figure at home. Jyz Yorke grew up without his father. This led to a yearn for a father hence getting interested rap and looking up to rappers. Locally Jyz Yorke was inspired by Jericho who is one of the greatest rappers in Namibia. Jyz Yorke had a collection of his CD's that he was given as a gift by one of his relatives. Another rapper was "Master T" this was when Jyz Yorke was at church "this man had a paper and was rapping over a beat from it" this inspired Jyz Yorke even more. Furthermore Rappers such as Eminem, Lil Wayne and Lecrae influence Jyz Yorke too. "I remember writing my own song from an Eminem song I used the same melody but just different words" added Jyz Yorke. This was the beginning of it all.
Who are the Amazing people or organisations have you worked with or whom you are about to work with in some of your productions?
I worked with Triple M (An organisation from Omaruru), MLD (also from Omaruru), & Redeem Records.
Right now we working on our own company (music based) which is Straight Peculiar, We Almost There was dropped under our label. The Executive producer is Bradlow on the Beat (a childhood friend), followed by Zack on the Track, Tory Kaan (who is actually from SA) and Floww from Namibia.
When it comes to production Jyz Yorke doesn't change that much since he is in the process of developing a sound and an image. For All the graphics and visuals Jyz Yorke will be working with PutinWork (CEO: Johnson Namholo).
What is the motive behind your tracks / writings (especially your latest studio album “We almost There”?
Jyz Yorke promotes hope and life through hip hop, His latest LP WeAlmostThere is an album that stands for Hope. Since initial idea is hope, the listener might think that it ends there but it is a bit profound. The whole album is like a journey with a room in the middle, War Room which is a reference to the famous movie War Room. The track is number 7 and is pretty much the backbone of the album. Without this track the album could've been senseless.
The stories before the War Room are all representing a person who is need of hope.

Almost There (Album title track which narrates how hard it was for Jyz to get studio time)
Hip Hope (here Jyz Yorke takes it to the hood speaks about what he sees on the way to the studio)

Manifest Kidd is a pun (Money First Kidd) Jyz Yorke Speaks about how big broke makes us reckless (reckless) and he sort of calms the seeking of hope.
Now War Room is the biggest song on the project because it serves the album's purpose Hope. True hope can only be found through God and how we can connect to God. By prayer so if you ever need hope, say a prayer rather than having war in the streets by robbing or pushing weed or complaining or any other things mentioned… Pray!
After War Room, Jyz Yorke was free and didn't mind hear the negativity (Headphones On).
He rides with Ajay King Track on Taking Over and there is a sudden change in the story from taking over to Years Away. This can be seen as a car accident (Crush) which symbolises love or emotion in this case. It continues with the RnB vibe tracks and Charge In comes in which suggests that the love emotions don't rule over Jyz Yorke but since he is human he had to bring it out. Charge in is a track which throws direct shots at the industry that got the power if they (the rappers in the industry) are the man of the hour? This rhetorical question reveals that Jyz Yorke feels like the artist aren't doing art that is infinite but rather temporary who alludes to talking about the basic things expected from hip hop.
Move in is him taking his properties and finally moving in the industry.

Hip hop music and Gospel music, How do you manage to mix or merge the two and do Gospel Hip hop?
Hip hop is all expressing your points and your views. If you are full of something it will exude itself correctly no matter where you are. Hip hop and the gospel is the best collaboration that could ever happen. Hip Hop is the expression and the gospel is the walk. If you merge that you get the best music.
Do you think there is a difference between South African / Mzansi Hip hop and Namibia Hip hop?
The only difference is the intertwined and unity, In Namibia we lack that. Everything else is pretty much the same.
How is the response from family and friends that you are in the hip hop game?
My family is super proud, I think they know that I was made for this and they support me. My friends are supportive too. They constantly share my stuff and can't wait for the blow up.

Coenie Strydom was born in Musina Limpopo on a farm that bordered Zimbabwe, I grew up with all the farm worker’s kids and quickly STARTED talking the language (Thsivenda), at the moment I'm unemployed but was working as a sales manager at Motswako office solutions In Kyalami for 3 months. I’m well known for my motivation and ambition that I bring to any part of the game of life.
How did you achieve the tone, and fluency on speaking Tshivenda?
I Spent a Lot of time reading and learning Venda as-well, and WITH most of my friends being Venda it just came naturally

My father is fluent but I must say, my brother of 17 years old gives a run for the money

Trigger was born and grew up in Johannesburg, he moved to N’waxinyamani village in Limpopo at the age of six where he schooled and got his matric there, although he was mostly interested in Rap but he also had an interest of going to varsity which he did of course and graduated at the University of South Africa UNISA, hence now I am currently pushing music n hoping for to be the best as an underground Emcee
What drove you into hip hop?
I fell in love with Poetry, got interested in story-telling; I therefore listened to great heads who are underground emcees and man! I told myself that this is the ish I’m about; i got involved in street cyphers n battles and rap competitions for the love of underground rap...
Any achievements?
Yeah some days are better than others as they say man, so I lost a couple n won a few, I remember back at the University of Venda (UNIVEN) in 2009 where i battled a kat by the name of King Jesse who was seen on SABC 1 FANBASE those days. The guy is good but nobody won the battle as it was a tie, it was a great battle indeed. So yeah all in all sometimes you lose and sometimes you win and you grow from that.
How do you deal with negativity response from your surroundings towards your Rap Journey?
They say; a wise man ignores fools for they do not know what they are doing. I always choose to be determined and never be septic about my success. So yeah, it’s all about staying focused, following your destiny and let critics build you, and not break you.
Who is your role model?
Lol funny enough I am my own role model, I look up to nobody, I’m a man of my own words, but I appreciate the likes of Proverb, Stogie T, Reason and Zubz. I don’t necessarily see them as my mentors but i appreciate their art of work (more like an inspiration).
Are your lines educational or motivational?
Yeah man, I make music for heads to listen and to overcome circumstances, the single I dropped in 2014 entitled "Lost souls" was a real story that I experienced and the pain was no more since I dropped it. So in short, i find spiritual healing when i write music.
How is the response from family and friends towards your Rap Journey?
I have family, friends and strangers who like my sound and my skills. Most people have been good to me and told me that I should keep pushing until I reach the light, which is pure success of course, although I’m not well known but I’m working on that and hoping for the best...still more singles to come and for the likes of Jay and Dollar who encouraged me to register with SAMRO, It really meant a lot, hence am paving a way forward
Your stage name, Why Trigger?
I remember back in the days while i was part of a crew called "000-zero"… Uhmm we were brainstorming stage names while in studio about to record, I also remember back in Soshanguve on a street cypher whereby an emcee by the name of Lunatic said to me that once I start in a cypher, I never stop, words just come out like I have a machine gun in my mouth. Back to 000-zero, while we were brainstorming, I then thought of what Lunatic said to me, then i was like oh... it means i trigger these words, so I’ll called myself TRIGGER!!
Who intimidates you round your hood?
As you know, hip hop is an ego driven genre, However there might be kats around my hood who are working hard but I haven’t encountered any competition unlike when I’m at Pta where there is a lot of competition. Uhmm I know two kats who are working hard though... Tory Blaze and Dollar. These guys can spit.
Music, Religion, Academics and Social life? How do you balance the 4?
I’m a guy who humbles himself before God. I’m a believer and my soul is filled with faith, hence the hand that balances the 4 things you’ve mentioned comes from the heavens. I hope u get me!

It’s all about working hard and following your dreams. One must not limit their selves but they should go beyond their enemy's reach, which will be their success of course. Underground rap is the most hardest rap in the world that requires a solid vocabulary...for one to be able to achieve the best and to keep it all elevated on this context of lyricism...keepin it straight as sick on the cypher, battle, freestyle rap tradition at all times.
MCola is a 22 year old Hip Hop artist from Ivory Park in Midrand, Gauteng, South Africa. He was born in Ngodini, Nelspruit in Mpumalanga. MCola started recording and performing music in 2012.
What got you to Hip hop?
What got me into music was inspiration by Hip Hop artists such as Teargas, Pro and Lil’ Wayne in 2006 and that’s when I started writing.
What makes Mcola different from other Hip hop stars?
I believe that what distinguishes me from other Hip Hop artists is the message in my music, the Gospel (God’s saving power) message.

I’ve been privileged to work with great organizations like YTM, and producers Morrey, Zack & Aura who helped me on my album.
What is the motive behind your writings?
The motive behind my music is sharing about God’s love and grace, like on my current single ‘Amaphutha’ taken off my debut album ‘Lindiwe’. On the song I share about how a Christian walk isn’t primarily about what one does but what Christ has done for us on the cross. How is the response from family and friends towards your music?
The response from my family and friends about me being a musician has been so overwhelming. They are very supportive.

Do you think Mzansi Hip hop is losing direction or it is on point?
I say Mzansi Hip Hop is on point because now one can make a career out if, put food on the table for themselves and the families as we have seen lately.
