Young2-SwiTch Started as “To Switch” as my great grandmother used to say I act like an old man and it reminded her of her late Husband on how much I cared and took care of her, so for 3 years I was trying to bring the best out of my stage name to sound “cool”, I then changed the name to Young2-SwiTch which explains that I was too young to switch up. Why Hip hop?
With the love of Music, not just Hip-Hop but all genres, l love music and listen to so many musicians, the massage they share in their music makes me gain interest in the business and want to understand it more. I started to understand the music industry back in 2014 after doing some research and developed skills and understanding on how to make a record and how to get my music to the people with digital platforms, I learnt how to distribute my music as an independent artist and had my own Label (The Hood Cash Records) which was founded in 2016.
I gained so much love in the Music industry and chose the Rap Game because it has inspired a lot of people including myself and I feel like I can touch people’s lives through it. I also feel like music is the way of communicating with people and my soul, teaching and learning our differences as humans. So i thought if Jay Z is able to help out his Community out of his success then why can’t I do more than that? I am not in the music industry or music business to be just rich and famous but I want to be successful to reach out to my community.
From the hits like Kings and Ditoro, just to name the few, to Polo, how has the Journey been?
Singles POLO, Kings and Ditoro have been making impact in the digital Platforms, people love the songs and the inspirations they have. I have been receiving great feedbacks from all of them. I have 24 songs online from my albums; The Black Print and Better Days Compilation that dropped in November last year, both of my albums have uplifted my name all over, so my journey has been a long one but mostly exciting with my 95 Job as I do music on my free time.
You recently dropped a single with the 3 o’clock rapper Rito Tory Blaze, what is the motive behind the track and how was the experience working with him?
I met a friend Rito Baloyi who also became my brother back in 2015 around April, we were both involved in some community work that brought us closer and shared the stage in June 2015 along-side Kwesta. We stayed in touch; we spoke about a feature for a long time and to make music together. Our first Project happened to be the hit single POLO of which I was inspired by latest version of the VW Polo. I loved the car so much and thought of making a hit out of it. I am thinking of owning one of the VW Polo cars while working on some few projects that we will release as time goes on. I said to my brother Rito Baloyi that “2018 we are breaking barriers and there is more to come”.

KayGee XI is a 22 year old recording and performing artist from Zandspruit Informal Settlement (Honeydew), North of Johannesburg. I make music and I am music. I think that’s the most appropriate way to put it, because the music has become a huge part of my life. I am an ex-footballer, having had played for Wits academy sides growing up, but the football dream was cut short when I suffered from a terrible injury back in 2014… and shortly after that, I dedicated myself to the music and the rest is history.
Why Hip hop?
I’d say I chose hip hop because hip hop got me through the most challenging times of my life, and that was during my high schooling years. I suffered from depression a lot during my high school years and being the ‘cool guy, I was too proud to talk to anyone about it and so I found comfort in hip hop music as I found some of the artists I listened to very relatable, and that gave me a sense of not being alone in whatever I was going through. Hip Hop gave me a shoulder to lean on. I grew up in the Lil Wayne Carter 3 era, and I have to credit him for inspiring me to start rapping myself. Weezy a LEGEND.
Your recent amazing music video “Pxrple Drxnk”, who do you want to acknowledge and how did you manage to come up with such successful video?
Firstly I want to send a huge shout out to Pxrple Drxnk (she knows herself ha-ha), then a huge shout out to my brother and producer Nate Africa for the monster of a beat, this song is nothing without the two. As for the music video, the credit goes to Visuals by Nano. We had no budget at all for this music video but somehow, Nano managed to put together a GREAT music video, I’m really proud of how the video came out. I encourage anyone who’s willing to invest in their craft to follow @yoboii_nano on Instagram and book your music video shoot with him. He’s a genius behind the lens. The music video is out on YouTube and was hosted by UK YouTuber and SA Hip Hop Reactor – Madzie Superset. Again, I have Nano to credit for that plug too. I hope people catch on to the music video, and who knows – God willingly, we might end up on TV!
You dropped a hot Extended Play / (EP) “Transitions” featuring hits produced by the likes of VeeBeats and Nate Africa, What is the motive behind the EP and how has the experience been working with those producers?
VeeBeats & Nate Africa are my brothers for life. We share the same passion, love and enthusiasm for music, so working together on this EP was magical. The two are super talented producers and I consider myself on of the very lucky ones to have them in my friendship/musical circle. I have to credit the features appearances from Spec XI, Dizzy, Scima, Sash, together with both Vee and Nate Africa because they all played a role in helping me put out the best EP in Honeydew right now. I am proud of myself and everyone else involved in this EP. I am working on my debut album at the moment, so 2018 is still going to get a whole lot of this work!
Who are the other guys that you have worked with on the music industry in total?
I have worked with quite a lot of people on the come up with me, but the people I can mention now are my team members, the people I work closely with, namely – Spec XI, Dizzy, XCVI, Nate Africa, CK & S’ven Beats. These are the people I spend most of my time with making music. In terms of visuals, I work with Make It Known Productions and Visuals by Nano. I am quite blessed to have a team of individuals that share the same collective goal as me, it makes working a lot more fun! I should mention though, I would really love to work on a song or two with Gemini Major in the near future.
How is the response from family and friends towards your music journey?
My family is the most supportive in terms of my music journey. My parents pull up to some of my shows and my dad is the one snapping 90% of my performance videos. I am blessed to have been born into a family that believes in dreams and their possibilities of coming true. My friends will tell you how my music is always playing in my dad’s car. The support at home is crazy! My friends are also a solid support system for my music; I get so much love from them that I don’t take for granted. I think it is important to be friends with people that are both your motivation and your inspiration, because these people are legit great at what they do and that just pushes me to always strive to be great at what I do too.
Your stage name KayGee XI, how did you come up with it? (especially the XI)
XI is Roman numeral for the number ‘11’, and that was my football number, together with my late brother TsiTsi’s football number. In the football team, the number 11 is always considered the most skilful or creative player on the pitch, and therefore, the XI became a metaphor for creativity. I have a movement named XI GANG, and the translates to the Creative Collective. So KayGee XI is basically KayGee for the XI.

Zakly is a proudly South African rap artist and producer based in the East Rand. Zakly spent the majority of his career in the "Underground" Rap and battle rap scene and is a huge fan of the culture in general. Zakly is not focused on commercial pop hip hop music but rather the intense story-telling and very lyrical old school styles of hip hop.
Out of all genres, why did you choose Hip hop?
It may sound cliche but I never chose hip hop but rather hip hop chose me. At a very young age a homie of mine played me some Wu Tang Clan on an old school cassette player and I immediately fell in love with hip hop and was fascinated by the ability to put words together, make them rhyme and tell a story. I do like other genres of music but the technicality of making words rhyme and different types of rhyming structures are very fascinating and I find pleasure in creating complex wordplay.
You dropped a hit “Expensive” featuring Da L.E.S, What is the motive behind the track and how has the experience been working with Da L.E.S?
My DJ at the time was a fan of Da L.E.S and DJ Darkness, he wanted to put a track together and have his two favorite artists on it. He produced a beat, I wrote the hook and first verse, then he approached Da L.E.S to feature on it and boom the vocals and instrumental separates were sent to a sound engineer called Pricha and the hit was produced by DJ Darkness. I then pushed the track and posted up all the artwork and ran social media ads and hustled. My idea was for fans to be able to download it free so you can get it for free download via Slikouronlife via - http://bit.ly/2Bfo74k ... I personally don't really dig working with established or comfortable artists cause I end up hustling my ass off and they chill cause it's just another song but to me as a unsigned artist every track is super important and I prefer working solo as my style has its own unique sound but I did the trap track to have some fun and show my versatility as a lyricist.
Who are the other guys that you have worked with on the music industry?
Over the years I've worked with so many artists and had dope and wack experiences. Many SA artists that are already established have crazy egos and are lazy, so rather than give you a list, let me give some advice for up-coming rap artists and producers, forget wanting to work with stars but rather focus on being a star and doing your own thing, never sell out and just be true to yourself.
How is the response from family and friends towards your music journey?
I had my first track play on 5fm at like 18 years old so my friends and family have known for years that my whole life is music, everyone is super supportive and because I've been in rap for so long it's literally just become the norm to family and friends, Zakly is a rap artist and that's him. I must say that friends and especially females have come and gone, when I'm down they bounce and when I'm doing good they suddenly return or new ones appear so I tend to keep my circle very very small.
Your stage name Zakly, how did you come up with it?
My real name is Zak, I was in a battle rap in JHB CBD and while smoking a blunt a homie of mine called me Zakly, I figured it sounded dope and it stuck, if I could change my stage name now I would just loose the "ly" and use my birth name but Zakly sounds dope doesn't it? Hahahaha.

A cool white Boy, one word “ACWB”, pronounce it however you want. Hahaha.

I have never paid a radio station to play my jams, slikour among others admitted in interviews that they paid to have music aired and money bought a lot of rapper success, I have never kissed ass or paid anyone, I even swore and fought with music compilers at major stations, so here's the motivation - I'm the real deal, I'm a rap artist with integrity and my hustle got me working with the biggest names in music and my New EP tells my life story, I'm not tryna be like anyone and I can sleep at night with pride, forget the fame and forget the bullshit, be yourself and don't be a sellout, the pride will be motivation enough.

Who is your celebrity crush?

Known by his stage name DADDY-D (Daniel Xolile Phokomela) born 05 December 1988 based in Daveyton. DADDY-D is a hip-hop artist, entrepreneur, motivator, MC and a father.
A hip-hop musician that got inspired by hip hop rhymes and beats formed a crew in 2002 called FLADO (FAME AND FORTUNE, LOVE AND LUXURY, ACHIEVEMENTS AND AWARDS, DEDICATION AND DISCPLINE, and OUTREGEOUS LYRICS).
The crew consisted of three people, in 2004 we performed with likes of BONGO RIOT before he got signed by GANG OF INSTRUMENTALS.
In 2005 the crew went on to perform for the IKWEKWEZI FM launch in Mpumalanga till the crew fell apart.
DADDDY-D continued with his music where he got an opportunity as one of the selected Artists to tour with ANC in 2006 performing at their various events.
In 2007 DADDY-D & Joseph Sedibo (Actor) started a company Gunshot Entertainment, getting more clientele to benefit his music and started to do events and hip-hop sessions.
In 2011 he performed at a conference held in Katlehong Change Bible Church with the likes of KHAYA MTHETHWA & JUDITH SEPHUMA.

Why Hip Hop?

I make real music. I actually like what’s going on with South African Hip Hop, It’s growing so fast. Not to say that I’m impressed with every rapper but most of them are doing very good.

In what/ which ways has your music changed from when you started?

Up to so far, I’ve listened to most of the rappers in TUT and I’m not that impressed with the craft. So, I think I’m better than most of them. So yes!

The childhood day you got embarrassed during your, what happened?
Lmao, uhm I think most of the moments were I felt embarrassed was in high school. Like, I was one of the noise makers so when the teachers got enough of it, they’d say some very embarrassing and hurtful stuff to me.

Thanks a lot. The song is crazy, it’s one of the songs that I’ll look back and say “who would’ve thought…”.
I always run away with whatever that is trending on social media. I make songs based on trends. That’s my winning formula. Aya Kwini is one of them. When I saw a series of videos of Boti Majulie, the old who originally made the phrase Aya Kwini to trend, that’s when I knew that it was about time to make a hit track. I went into studio and worked on the song and immediately tracked the old man down. Luckily, I found his management team. That kinda made the situation very easy. We spoke about the song and how I wanted to release it as an official single. They were more than happy. I didn’t waste no time as it was already festive season. Me and my crew went down to Bambheni, Giyani in Limpopo to Boti Majulie’s home. His team came through as well. We spend some time with the old man and did few radio stations interviews and finally got to shoot the music video. The song became very big and the people responded very well. When we finally released the video it also trended on youtube, featured on tv shows such as TrendingSA, Mzansi Insider, TBTon1 and more. The song is still doing very well, playlisted on radio station. I’m currently working on a remix of the song as well…
From all of your tracks and other activities that you do, would you say the hit “Aya Kwini” was the one that made people to see JoviSlash or better recognition? Or there was more before it?
Well for me, every single song plays a role in growing me as a brand. It is a build up. I’m yet to release bigger songs. Remember before Aya Kwini I released a song titled Bayanya Laba and it also trended crazily and shook the entire industry. Aya Kwini is part of the journey. In 2018 its gonna get even more crazier. Bigger things are coming.

Stay true to you, be yourself as there can never be another you but remember “Work harder and consistently, never stop. When you feel like nobody is watching or listening, that’s the best time to master your art. By the time people start to give you attention, you’ll be far and comfortable with your craft. Try it, it works”

(Bonus) Please share with us the day you got embarrassed during your childhood, what happened?
Lol, let me think. There are probably many encounters. Okay… uhm. I once had a dopest bike (bicycle) in my hood and every kid wanted it. I used brag until somebody stole it. I couldn’t go out anymore and my friends laughed at me.

Mac Loud is a no holds barred part of who Mbulelo is, he is my voice, my thoughts, opinions and through Mac Loud people can get to know ME on a more personal level.
People are used to seeing you appear on their TV screens doing something different from music, would you say music was your hidden talent or it came before acting?
Music for me has always been there, even through the many years of acting music was there, I'd always be more interested in listening to the underground hip hop since high school than what was mainstream purely because of the deeper messages told. I had friends who made music and I would assist with the song writing and such but it wasn't until 2017 where I decided to fully go into it myself.
Is there any difference between the character "Scelo" on Scandal, Mbulelo in everyday life and Mac Loud the hip hop artist?
Vast differences as well as a few similarities.. The differences would be that Scelo is more reserved and Mbulelo is more in between where as Mac Loud holds nothing back, the similarities however would be that all 3 have a great work ethic.
Great artists or organizations that you worked with on the Hip hop game?
Seeing as it's quite a new thing me coming out in music I haven't actually done too much in terms of collaborating mainly because I want people to get used to my sound first, but I've done a couple of collaborations across the hip hop and afro pop genres and all I can say is people can expect a lot of versatility in my music.
What's the motive behind the track "Still Shining"?
It's mainly a track about claiming one's "rightful" position if you will.. Many people go through negative situations in life and people are very quick to judge or celebrate one's "downfall" the track simply sends a message to all the "haters" and "naysayers" as well as bringing a fresh sense of hope and renewal.
You are now in the music chapter, are people still going to see you acting or it will be all about music and nothing else?
I've never been a one trick pony so I'm not about to start now.. Going into music doesn't mean the end of my acting chapter .. In fact I've always done a lot more than acting such as being and entrepreneur, being a director and writer so music is simply another addition to my skill set.
Response from family and friends on your music journey?
Family was more surprised than anything since I've always kept this music dream to myself but with friends it was more of a "it's about time" kind of reaction.
"Mac Loud" How did you come up with that stage name?
My second name is McCloud which is of Scottish origin, Mac Loud is just a play on my second name .. I wanted something that means something to me and that is a part of who I am.
