What got You into Hip Hop?
.
The older kids that we use to play soccer against in my court, they were the ones who came with speakers to the field and were playing hip hop music. I never really took note of it but it was there and unconsciously I started listening to it. Once it became a habit, my friends and I started competing with one another about who watched the latest hip hop music video first - I remember Soulja boy's "Crank Dat" being the hit at that time.
.
.
If You were not into hip hop, what would you be?
.
I would be in education- I always wanted to be a scientist though but as years went by the desire changed and becoming a teacher started growing on me
.
.
What is the good and the worst about Hip hop according to Your Experiences?
.
The good is that Hip Hop is the platform given to influence, and a whole generation can be influenced. The worst is giving that platform the wrong people/person
.
.
What is the Motive behind your Writings?
.
I write to express myself and in doing that, I try to inspire the next person to do the same. Also theres times where I just wanna show off lyrical skillset - you know, flex a little bit lol but as a whole, trying to make the most out of the lessons of life to be honest.
.
.
How was the experience that you travelled to USA and collaborate with Mike Will Made it?
.
Aahh man, the flight to USA was long. First to Joburg, then Germany and then USA.
I really enjoyed it though, I mean to enter a world that you've only seen on TV - A lifestyle that is admired by the people where I come from, was dope. I was scared though but I kinda got use to it once I was flying back.
Myself and Mike Will Made It never linked up, he was busy with the tracklist for Creed
2. The beat was whack though I was kinda disappointed, the best thing about that beat was probably the tag. However, I worked w someone else, we spent like two nights in the studio to complete to the track.
.
.
How did you get to be mentored by K.O and Kwesta?
.
K.O and Kwesta were judges on a competition I was in ( MTN Megastar), so that's how I got to be mentored by them. With K.O he came down to Cape Town like a few times and I linked with on two of those occasions.
.
.
Spiroh... What's the story behind the stage name?
.
Spiroh is actually and abbreviation.
It stands for Successfully Perseveres In Rough Obstacles as Henkemans
.
.
What are the best tips you can give to other upcoming rappers to make it into the Hip Hop game?
.
The best advice I can be is : Find your sound and be consistent in that. Also, do things other rapper wouldn't even consider doing. SET THE BAR! Dont chase it
.
.
Few years from now, where will Spiroh be?
.
In a few years time, I'll be sitting alongside Drake, joking about whose taking the award for this catergory, probably be him, but who knows I might take it lol
.
.
