The Rap Type Mag Awards (RTM Awards) celebrated more than music and entertainment when a local rapper named Flash Cortez was honoured with a special trophy for doing the Most on Hip hop around the hood (from Elim to Bungeni)
Cortez Started his Music Journey at his 4th grade by playing drums at church, he dived into producing at his 6th grade. In 2017, Flash Cortez started making his own music inspired by his brothers Black Knight and Deep Mental. That’s where he started rapping at his home until he met legends like Makapeni (Tribe of One), Dala Fam, Storm for Production and his growth continued.
Flash Cortez worked with a lot of dope Rappers in this Hip hop game and most of them are from Lesotho…
People like Sanere, Ntate Stunna, Phoka ya Borwa to name a few are people who worked a lot with Flash, but in South Africa; Limpopo he worked with artists like Theo M (his DJ), Canicee, Nebo SixFour to name a few, where Nebo SixFour became a Rapper whom they helped each other a lot in the Hip hop game.
One of the Achievements that Flash Cortez had through hip hop was getting nominated at The Awards Ceremony by Dala Fam in 2017. Flash Cortez also won the Best Producer Award in Lesotho and now he’s in Limpopo making big moves
Flash Cortez made a hit song - Phambili nge War in 2023. This hit song elevated Flash Cortez’s Music Career until he got recognised and signed by the late Rapper Malome Vector. He made this song while he was in his university days. Flash Cortez was focused on production but after that, went back to rapping, spitting Tsonga Rap bars, Trapping and killing it, then Tsonga Rap fans started giving him attention.
The trophy serves as a symbol of appreciation for the rapper’s dedication and contribution to the community, while also encouraging other artists to use their platforms for positive influence.
The RTM Awards continue to create a platform for celebrating the people who contribute to the development of hip hop at grassroots level.
