The Rap Type Mag Awards (RTM Awards) celebrated more than music and entertainment when a local rapper and Videographer named Lester Matthews was honoured with a special trophy for making a meaningful impact at Chavani Village through Hip hop and Visuals.
The award recognised Lester Matthews’s contribution to the communities around Chavani Village and surroundings through hip hop visuals, highlighting the power of music and videos to inspire, connect and create positive change beyond the stage
Lester Matthews started his music career a few years ago +/- 15 years ago where he got motivated by local artists such as Mizo Phyll, G.Ice, Ela Man The Hustler Boys to name a few.
These are the people made Lester Matthews saw that he can do music too as he was already interested but the courage came after seeing the mentioned artists above making it possible.
The first Music Video that Lester Matthews shot was “Man of Power” by Dj HopeStar that he remembers and people liked it due to the fact that it was a new thing around the hood for an artist to shoot a music video.
Lester Matthews continues to do Visuals, as he shot a couple of Music videos around the hood and now shooting short movies like Blood Pact, Village Hustle, Kasi Love Story and more
The trophy serves as a symbol of appreciation for the rapper’s dedication and contribution to the community, while also encouraging other artists to use their platforms for positive influence.
The RTM Awards continue to create a platform for celebrating the people who contribute to the development of hip hop at grassroots level. Through recognising artists, legends and community contributors, Rap Type Mag hopes to inspire a new generation to understand that hip hop is not only a form of entertainment, but also a powerful tool for expression, unity and community development.
The honour is a reminder that an artist’s legacy can extend far beyond the music — it can be found in the lives they touch and the communities they help build.
Big Shout out to Lester Matthews.
