No story at all, its just a name i came up with when i decided to be a Rapper
Would you say SA Hip Hop is Slowly dying due to Genres like Amapiano Making Noise or you’d say it is getting Stronger?
Hip hop will never Die. We actually getting Stronger
What is this One Thing that you’d wish to Change in the SA Hip hop scene?
Rappers should focus more on making hits so hip hop can be stronger and dominate again like it did in 2014 and 15

AKA is king of SA Hip hop because he made hits and not only for Rappers but for the entire continent.

Some boys and i once performed at a Fan park during half time when i was a kid , all of a sudden the crowd started screaming and i thought they were feeling my music but they just wanted me to move so they can watch the game

“I represent Blawa, I Kasi lam’, I studied in Cape Town… Kapa is my place of education and Jozi is where I hustled, did My thing and got everything I got up to this day, so that makes me a South African.
I’ve been everywhere around this country (Mzansi), IsiXhosa which is my language is My weapon in the Rap game and a Rapper is who I am.
How has your musical journey been from the era of Hola Hater, Ewe, Shake… etc until today?
My musical journey has been interesting, full of ups and downs, I guess it’s kinda like everyone else’s journey but mine has been a little bit extra, very steep you know… super adventurous, and… it was made for me you know, I was built for it.
Hola hater, Ewe, Shake, Ingoma ezimnandi… then the silence, and now reappearing, it’s all part of my journey, it’s part of the circle that I am dropping which is divided into four quadrants; 1st Quadrant, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Quadrant, those are the Four Albums I’m releasing as a rapper, describing who I am as Ifani
What is the good and the bad thing about hip hop in Mzansi?
The Good thing is that it exists, so people like myself and others can exist, there’s a community out there that listens to what we offer, there are people that follow and promote the culture like you guys (Rap type Mag),so it’s good that we all exist in it.
The bad thing is that it’s not number One anymore.
That’s the only bad thing but we can work on it you know, we can still turn it around.
As a Rapper, how do you deal with Negative Vibes from people or other Rappers?
Ey My man… I’m still learning as I go… it’s not something that we are born with, negative vibes will always make you feel negative, but then the difference is how quickly do you bounce back from that negative, that’s how I have been experiencing it myself, sometimes it gets me, sometimes it doesn’t, but when it does get to me, I need to get back as quickly as I can.
Ifani… what’s the story behind this stage name?
“Ifani” means “it’s not the same”, Mzi plus Ifani = Mzayifani, that’s the Full name, Mzayifani
How was the experience being on The Tswyza Show as a guest?
Yoh the Experience at The Tswyza Show was great my man, I told him it’s a great concept, this is what we need as a culture, this is beautiful man I love this concept and I wanted to support it, so wanted to go hard so that I can get my fans and my followers to join the movement, cos I really think it’s a great thing to have as South Africans. More stars will be born from this you know, More new guys will go to that show and become superstar’s there after… so Big ups to Tswyza for sure
Who would you say is the King of Hip hop or The Best Rapper in SA and Why?
Ah… Come on, Me, Myself… Ifani, Mr Hayimani… I’m the King, I’m the Best Rapper in South Africa, My weapon like I told you is IsiXhosa. The only person in here that can give me a run for my money is Kwesta.
Kwesta is the only one that can battle me to death but everyone else goes down… EVERYBODY goes down, from KZN to Gauteng to Mpumalanga, to Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Zonke maba bonke… they fall down, and like I said, my weapon of choice is IsiXhosa and I’d lie my friend, my flows are dangerous, they would eat anything in this country.
The only one that can stand before me is Kwesta. But other than that like I said; SupaMega… Down, I was going against him and he knows he dodged the bullet with me…
What are the wise words can you tell to upcoming rappers as words of inspiration?
To Rappers… Guys, this is a sport, Enjoy it, have fun but treat it like a sport, I wouldn’t say treat it as a career My man cos Yoh, this thing is not stable but if you look at it as a sport, then you will enjoy it, and in sports there’s injuries, there’s offseasons… you know, it’s a sport my man, enjoy this thing, have fun and make your own legacy.
What can we Expect from Ifani from now on?
More Music is coming out. This whole year I’m dropping things, so musically I’m in the creative space right now and I’m releasing more and more, so yeah, look out for those
What are your funny Childhood memories?
Failing my June exams in Grade 8, that is the funniest thing ever because I had never failed and I have never failed there after… ever ever ever…
So it’s the only time ever in my life to fail an exam… I still think it’s the funniest thing ever

"Top Ten" is a Tsonga rap song about the daily hustles in the Tsonga Rap scene. The song speaks on acknowledging the pioneers and those who still keep the movement going regardless of the struggles that arise with hope that things will work out in the end.
How long it took to get everything together?
Making it was such a joy as well as tricky hence it took us approximately 3months to finalise the project.
How was the experience has been working with Nebo SixFour and StunnaKing
I've worked with Nebo before but never in person until "Top Ten", that's when i realised the man is a genius and such a pleasure to work with, Stunna King on the other hand is a frequent collaborator of mine, the musical connection we have is undeniable.
initially this project had only me and Nebo SixFour in it, we made the hook and left it at that with plans to go and outsource inspiration to outwrite ourselves on the verses but due to time and commitments, Nebo and I couldn't link up to structure the verses but thank God Stunna king was there to save the day at the time we had released a snippet of the hook and it was gaining so much traction from the hood so we really had to take advantage and release the song ASAP
Are you planning to shoot any music video for this song?
We don't have plans to work on the music video due to lack of resources unfortunately
This is just another unfiltered truth song by Nebo SixFour, this song simply highlights the importance and power of money in the modern world.
I worked with Young O.G my long time beat maker, from NjhakaNjhaka, a very talented young artist. His ability to make a Lo-Fi subtle hiphop instrumentals makes it easy for my voice and message to fit like a glove on the beat.
It took me about 3 weeks to write the whole song. But a year to complete everything since i was not just working on it to be a single song, but a song to be in my Ep. So i had to consistently come back to reduce or add some elements to make it blend with the other songs in the Ep.
The whole music video took about 3 hours😁✌️
The challenges were the 0 budget man, everything extra, you see on the scenes was just a Favour. And trust me my guy when you're working with no budget everything is a challenge, This video was basically just 2 guys operating, Me and the Video Grapher, so I’m sure with just that being said, you can almost imagine what we had to go through…
Exciting Part was the video Grapher is actually a very great person, patient, energetic and supportive which made the whole thing kinda fun.
And to not to mention that he's also professional that's why a lotta people will be shocked to realise that it was just a 2 man mission.
The second thing was we were both shooting this our home town, so it was kinda easy for us to select sports to shoot and that's where we ended up even having people to volunteer to hold the lights, the equipment and also appear in the shoot.
Videographer - GeoMos Sagwadi Majoko, This guy is a Video Director and Producer by profession.
He shot, directed and edited the whole video single handedly.
Working with him was very much easy because he was someone who already knew me and my music… plus he trusts me heavily on the mic, so also considering the fact that he's the one who approached me with the idea, it made everything pleasant.
Are you Planning to do any Remix for this Song?
Nah man, i feel like it's not one of those things which needs a remix or even the people would expect a remix of, especially considering the fact that it was not a single song you know

“223 Remington” is a name of a bullet, this song is produced by Mateo from Virginia, Free State, who also Designed the cover artwork.
The track is all about me expressing my emotions regarding hip hop mates who left me in the dust when we’re all striving to make it.
On the song I speak about issues that I avoided a few times until it started affecting our collaborations together and now I’m awakening what was kept quiet about.
It took me 20mins to complete it and I am going to drop a music video on the 16th of December 2024

The song is based on a toxic relationship I was involved in 2years ago, and It stems from the emotions and experiences that came with the end of that relationship. The song captures feelings of heartache, betrayal, nostalgia, or even empowerment. The lyrics might tell a personal story or reflect universal emotions, and the music often complements the tone of the message.
How long did it take for the whole Song to Be Completed?
It was written, and recorded in 2022 by Myself and Karishma Kama a friend of mine from india.
The song features powerful vocals by Sharim Claren a female singer, and song writer based in the UK, and it was produced by Yang L AKA Braaavo all the way from China although the recording took place in my bedroom. The vocals were mixed, and mastered by a Belgium based audio engineer known as ideez.
Are you Planning to do a remix on it?
I doubt i will do a remix on the song, because i have alot of music that's gone come out in 2025. My best song, and video is set to drop end of February 2025!

Dyi Baddie is a concept that I can say people around me contributed to making it stick, I wrote a verse on a parody song where there is a part that says “Ms Kulie I dyi baddie va dyi navela”… the name stuck on my mind and I found it catchy. My fans, friends and family are usually a huge inspo to my music and most of the things I say on Dyi Baddie are some of the compliments I’ve received.

I have been pushing back releasing an EP which has been in the works for years! I’ve recorded songs but would not get the steam to want to drop. When the Dyi Baddie name hooked me I decided to drop some of the gems I had been holding on to.
The rest of the credit belongs to the beat maker, Nqabza The Boss who created the song ”Dyi Baddie”.
He sent me that song, however I know I wanted to do a single but the single turned into a few songs.
I’ve redefined “Dyi Baddie” as a term to describe someone who trusts their hype and goal oriented. The EP says that from Track 1-5
How long did it take for the whole EP to Be Completed?
It took years Lol!
Some of the beats were sent to me in 2016 and I was too held up with everything else, I couldn’t properly channel the energy to hit the studio. It has been a matter of pressing the release bottom coz the music had been there!
Who did you work with on this EP and how was the experience working with them?
I worked with really amazing people!
On Dyi Baddie; I worked with the talented Nqabza The Boss who made the beat and produced the song, he was a breeze and was so patient.
Award winning super engineer Zeph Beats said “say no more” when I hit him up to handle the final mastering of Dyi Baddie and if you know Zeph, you will understand why I had to put him on this one.
Faneriwa… the beat is produced by the GOAT Ph RaWx, he sent me the beat a few years ago when we were working on his album From Giyani With Love Too. Ph is one of the people I really call a big brother to the game and especially Limpopo cats. Working with him was nothing short of empowering, not just the beats but the guidance as well (Bro almost got me changing my name Lol!)
We recorded Faneriwa at Keys n Stuff Polokwane studios and I worked with radio host who as ninjas as a DJ and music producer and the mixing and mastering was done by rapper and producer Joyler Teezey
Then there’s Arguing Point, the beat was produced by my super talented home boy Jay Beats but Mixed and Mastered Joyler Teezay who really has my heart with his work! Working with both gents was a breeze.
The Code… Canar LED cooked this heat with the beat, also fun fact is that Canar is a house producer and produced the award winning “Xile nkuweni” by Dee Rocka. He did amazaning on his first Hip Hop record. I featured vocals from my friend and partner Hope Lebese who I had to bully into playing out the phone call verse on The Code ( its really cool, go listen!)
The remix of The Code which is The Guy Code features one of my favorite Tsonga rappers, the award winning Dee Michaels who I happen to have 2 other songs with that we haven't dropped, he is an amazing story teller and I wanted the remix of this song to give Drake’s Marvins Room vibe, he was exactly that!
The second verse is by the talented Seshtown rapper Mr 01 Out Records MalcomZee who is probably one of the most tired people from my EP, he handled the recording and pre arrangements 70% of the EP. I loved working with both.

Maaaan, this whole thing is fire but I can say I've played Arguing Point a million times and really think we cooked there 😂

Dyi Baddie, I can't wait to show off baddies and twerk on water lol. But jokes aside, I really feel Dyi Baddie is a huge record for the summer and I can't wait for you to see what we are cooking.

The album took six months to complete but there were singles prior the release, “We Never Die, We Multiply” and “We Never Die, We Multiply Remix” featuring Mochen, EmDeeYou, AV Raincandy and Rheebongs
Who did you work with on this Album and how was the experience working with them?
I worked with producers such as Emmortalbeats, OB Magik, DJ Rough SA, Arena Reign, and Gang Related 63ats, and I featured artists like Azi SA, OB Magik, DopeFlop and the ones I mentioned on “We Never Die, We Multiply Remix”. Working with each of them was different but enjoyable experience.
What’s your favourite song on this Album and why?
That’s a tough question because every song has a special place in my heart. It’s like choosing your favourite amongst your children.
Why did you choose “Watch yo Mouth” to shoot a music video out of all the songs on the album?
“Watch Yo Mouth” is actually the latest music video but the album has 9 music videos out of 11 songs.

How long did it take for the whole song to be completed?
Honestly, this track came together super easily. I was very intentional with the samples on the track. The Doc Shebeleza vocal sample was a no brainer and the drums samples and bass sounds just kind if slotted in with the vocal sample. Sometimes if the stuff thats the easiest to make that sounds so dope.
How was the experience working with Mac 11?
Incredible! He sent back a vocal performance that was exactly what I was looking for from the pockets he was hitting to the way he adlibbed the hook. He is dope!
How would you motivate other artists to bring back the golden oldies touch of sound like you did.
Actively listen to the elements that made that era so great and find innovative ways to bring them into a modern flavor. And do it properly to shoe love yo the OG!
